Digital Insight Podcast, The Digital Skills Gap.

9th May, 2019

The Digital Skills shortage, what is it all about?

The digital insight podcast is a monthly recording by Interface Magazine and CPO strategy looking at the burning issues within the C suite.

We are delighted that the May podcast features Rachel Mcelroy, our Sales and Marketing Director discussing the current state of the resourcing industry in the technology sector, the digital skills gap and how businesses can address skills shortages, diversity, and recruitment.

Commenting that businesses have a balancing act to perform as they undergo their own internal transformation, whilst outwardly supporting customers on their journeys. Leaders and employees need to be embracing and flexible to the amount of change that is being leveraged as organisations move forward with their strategies.

She sites the Gartner emerging risk survey in the last quarter of 2018 which highlighted the global talent shortage as the number one risk factor for enterprises, up 3 places from the 3rd quarter of 2018. This factor did not even feature on the first Gartner list of 2018!

Technology and IT in education, and how technology can be marketed better so more young people, women and people outside of the industry feel it is a viable career path for them.

Another point of discussion is the need for diversity within teams covering age, gender, and race. This ensures that not only do businesses have many varied voices within their individual strategies but also that their data sets are free on unconscious bias. This focus means the products and services they design are inclusive and useful to all.

Rachel has been meeting many different people and organisations as part of the research for our Cloud Leadership white paper so she has a great deal of knowledge on the effect of the digital skills gap to share.

She also likes to chat so taking part in a podcast is an ideal outcome for her.
